Have you ever ignored your instincts because someone else told you there was a better way? Most of us have.

In this clip from 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 & 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩, Virginia Elder shares with Regina McCann Hess why she’s learned to trust her intuition, even when others have offered well-meaning advice.

It’s an important reminder that confidence isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about learning to trust yourself enough to take the next step.

Whether you’re starting a business, making a financial decision, or pursuing a new opportunity, your intuition may be wiser than you think.

Confidence isn’t something that suddenly appears one day.
It’s built through experience.

It’s built by asking questions, trying something new, learning along the way, and trusting yourself enough to take the first step.

In my recent conversation with Virginia Elder, we talked about podcasting as a way to share your voice and your expertise. But the lesson goes far beyond podcasting.

Whether you’re starting a business, making an important financial decision, exploring a new opportunity, or pursuing a long-held dream, waiting until you feel completely ready may keep you waiting longer than you need to.

Take the next step.

You may discover that confidence has been waiting for you on the other side of it.

Have you ever put off something you really wanted to do because you didn’t feel ready?

You’re not alone.

In this 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 & 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 episode, Regina McCann Hess sits down with podcast strategist Virginia Elder to talk about podcasting, using your voice, and sharing your expertise. But the conversation quickly grows into something much deeper.

Together, they discuss why so many women wait for the “perfect” time to start something new, how confidence grows through action, and why progress is always more important than perfection.

Whether you’re thinking about starting a business, launching a podcast, or simply taking the next step toward a goal that’s been on your heart, this episode is full of encouragement.

Your financial future is influenced by more than your income.

It’s also shaped by your experiences, habits, beliefs, and emotions around money.

That’s why understanding your relationship with money is such an important first step.

When you better understand why you make certain financial decisions, you can begin making choices that align more closely with your goals.

Financial planning isn’t just about dollars and cents. It’s also about mindset.

The Fourth of July is a celebration of freedom, opportunity, and the ability to build a future with intention.

As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, it’s also a good reminder to reflect on what truly matters and the kind of life we are working toward.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and joyful Independence Day.

Happy Fourth of July 🇺🇸

Helping an adult child buy their first home can be one of the most meaningful financial gifts you ever give. It can also be one of the most complicated.

Before you write a check or co-sign a loan, take a step back and ask a few important questions.

𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵?
𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯?
𝘊𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but the best decisions balance generosity with financial security.

Regina McCann Hess recently shared her perspective in an AARP article about helping adult children purchase their first home. If this is a conversation happening in your family, you can read the article here:

When people ask Regina McCann Hess how much they should have in an emergency fund, they’re often surprised by her answer.

As shared in this recent PARADE Magazine article, she recommends saving 3 to 6 months of your actual spending, not just $1,000 or your monthly bills. Once you’ve reached that goal, work toward 9 months of spending if you can. That extra cushion can provide valuable flexibility if life takes an unexpected turn or the economy changes.

It’s a reminder that financial planning isn’t just about preparing for emergencies. It’s about creating confidence and giving yourself options when you need them most.

As inflation and financial pressures reshape household budgets, experts say the traditional emergency savings target may no longer be sufficient.

Using your home’s equity to pay off debt can sound like a smart financial move, but it’s not the right solution for everyone.

A HELOC may offer a lower interest rate than credit cards, but it also turns unsecured debt into debt that’s backed by your home. That’s why it’s important to look beyond the interest rate and understand the bigger picture.

One point Regina McCann Hess shared in this recent NerdWallet article is that paying off debt isn’t just about lowering your monthly payment. You also need to change the habits that created the debt in the first place. Otherwise, it’s easy to find yourself back where you started.

If you’re considering a HELOC for debt consolidation, we encourage you to read the article before making a decision.

Homeowners with high-interest debt might consider using their home equity to pay it off. One way to do this is by getting a HELOC.
