Interesting article. I agree life happens and it's best to have planned for contingencies. The author states the average life expectancy in America is 77.5 years. But if you are 55 years old women your life expectancy is 82.3 years and at age 65, you can expect to live to age 85.5. Men at 55 average 24.7 more year to 79.7. By age 65, a man can figure on living to 83. Plan accordingly.

We’re living healthier and longer lives. So why retire before 70? It turns out a lot of things could force us to stop working sooner.
