Thinking of a tax-free retirement? 🌴📖

One of our founders, Charlie Holloway, has been seeing a trend lately: more clients are planning moves to no-income-tax states. While it’s a great strategy for your retirement nest egg, it’s rarely as simple as just changing your mailing address.

Charlie recently shared an article highlighting why a "clean paper trail" is an important step in reducing potential residency tax disputes. "If you aren't careful," Charlie warns, " in some situations, taxpayers may face competing state tax claims.”

Here are the 2 of the traps the article breaks down:
1️⃣ The Dual-Home Dilemma: Keeping a home in your old state can lead to "residency audits" if residency ties aren't clearly broken.

2️⃣ The Remote Work Reality: Earning in one state while living in another creates tax obligations that change depending on the borders you cross.

Most people wait until the end of the month to see what’s left to save.

The 'Cent$ible' move?

Open your payroll portal or banking app right now and consider setting up an automatic transfer, even a small amount, to a separate savings account.

When you don't see it, you're less likely to spend it. Small, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference over time.

The DIY trap: The "do-it-all" grit that built your wealth is the same thing that might be stalling your legacy.

In the beginning, managing every dollar yourself was a superpower. But as you cross the $1M–$10M mark, the complexity changes.

Instead of building, you’re spending your free time managing. You’re the technician, the tax planner, and the risk manager all at once.

Read our recent blog to see how the DIY approach is costing you your time, focus, and maybe your peace of mind. (Link in Comments).

We’ve all been there: You get a raise or a bonus, and suddenly that 'wish list' becomes a regular item on our shopping list. 🛒

It’s called Lifestyle Creep, and it’s one of the reasons why people feel like they aren't getting ahead, even as they earn more. The goal isn't to stop enjoying life, but to make sure your future self is invited to the party! 🥳

Beyond the 401K contributions, Lisa Garris, one of our Financial Advisors, shared three options for saving the extra cash:
🔹 Brokerage Accounts: For flexibility and growth.
🔹 Backdoor Roth IRAs: A powerful tool for high earners.
🔹 HSA Accounts: The 'triple tax advantage' that many overlook.

Financial freedom is about how much you keep, not just how much you make.

What’s the one 'luxury' that sneakily became a 'necessity' for you? Let’s hear it in the comments! 👇

Is your financial future based on a real plan, or 60-second viral financial hacks? 📉

We’ve noticed a surge in "one-size-fits-all" financial hacks popping up between travel vlogs and DIY videos. But financial success shouldn’t be measured in likes or sponsorships.

We want to make sure you’re getting real, objective guidance. Read what Lisa Garris, a Financial Advisor here at Marietta Wealth, says about the "fin-fluencer" phenomenon:

"The catch with these viral tips is that many creators lack the credentials and the obligation to put your interests first. Real advice requires a personalized approach and a fiduciary standard."

Before making a decision on a viral money trend, ask these three questions:
1️⃣ Are they a fiduciary?
2️⃣ Do they have professional certifications?
3️⃣ Are they paid by commissions or a fee-only model?

Your retirement is too important to leave to a 60-second clip. This Schwab article does a great job debunking some of the 401(k) myths currently circulating on social media. Link in comments.
