Michigan Association of CPAs heard from some clients who say the Michigan Treasury erroneously sent them income tax refund checks in apparent glitch.

If you get any letters from the IRS or the state please reach out! The state has sent out over 27,000 letters in error that says you owe or are getting less back and now this issue with IRS letters. Most of them are inaccurate and can be taken care of with a letter. This is been the worst year for erroneous error letters in my 30+ years of doing taxes!

Accounting firms are seeing an increase in scams involving the notices the IRS is sending to taxpayers when they don't provide their direct deposit information.
