The State of Michigan issued 27,000 notice of adjustment letters in error in April. The State has taken corrective action to resolve this matter and implement improvements to prevent this error in the future.
Approximately 8,700 corrected letters have been issued. However, to reduce confusion, the remaining 18,300 taxpayers will now receive a revised corrected letter acknowledging the error and those with an outstanding balance will receive an accompanying page reflecting their current amount due titled "reminder of tax due".
If you received one of the original notices, no immediate action is needed at this time, as the State will be issuing revised corrected letters where applicable.
