Claiming dependents on your taxes that aren't yours...Be prepared to answer questions stating the reason why you are claiming the dependents. If you are claiming a child that is not related to you, my advice is DON'T CLAIM THE DEPENDENT. If you are claiming a child and that's related to you please show proof on how that child is related to you, bring in birth certificates for you, dependent, and the dependent mother or father. If you are claiming someone who's disabled, YOU MUST bring a letter from his/her doctor stating they are disabled. You CAN'T file taxes if you receive SSI, it's not taxable income. If you attended a college you must have 1098T or Account Statement. This information was given to us doing training, come directly from the IRS. So to get your refund in a timer matter, I suggest you follow the rules, don't blame the TAX Preparer.
