Please join us in congratulating Alex Karkeek, CFP®, CMFC on his 15-year anniversary with Cassaday & Company! 🎉

Alex joined the firm in 2011 as a Research Associate — but his connection to Cassaday & Company goes even further back. Originally from the United Kingdom, Alex came to the U.S. to play Division I golf at Radford University, where he first crossed paths with Steve Cassaday. From there, the rest is history.

Over the past 15 years, Alex has advanced from Research Associate to Vice President to Partner and Financial Advisor. He is a senior member of the firm's Investment Policy Committee and serves on the board of trustees for the Cassaday & Company Donor-Advised Fund, where he plays an active role in supporting meaningful causes in our community.

We are so grateful to have Alex as part of the Cassaday & Company family. His dedication to his clients, his colleagues, and the firm’s mission over the past 15 years has made a lasting impact, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate this milestone with him.

Please join us in congratulating Christian Hansen on his 10-year anniversary with Cassaday & Company!

Since joining the firm in 2016 as a paraplanner straight out of college, Christian has grown into his current role as Vice President and Financial Advisor, where he provides clients with the highest level of comprehensive and proactive service. He embodies the core values of our firm, exhibiting a passion for excellence in all he does – and he carries that same standard forward by mentoring the next generation of financial professionals at the firm.

Beyond his work with clients, Christian serves on the board of trustees for Cassaday & Company's Charitable Fund, helping shape the fund's impact in our community. He is also an active volunteer with Special Olympics, serves as Treasurer of the Special Olympics Virginia Young Professionals Board, and is a proud Special Olympics golf partner to his younger brother.

One of the most important, and often overlooked, steps in comprehensive financial planning is ensuring your family’s financial picture is fully coordinated.

For many adult children, discussing finances with aging parents feels uncomfortable or intrusive. But having this conversation early can protect family assets, reduce administrative stress, and help ensure your parents’ and family’s wishes are honored when it matters most.

We encourage you to take the opportunity to put these steps into practice and make family financial coordination a priority. A few tips to help get the conversation started include:

✅ Ask to schedule a dedicated time to talk about family finances, and don't make it a surprise.

✅ Come prepared with questions about estate documents, accounts, and key contacts. Having a prepared list of questions helps the conversation flow easier, and ensures all important questions are answered.

✅ Monitor everyone’s mood — if family members start to get tired or frustrated, pause and schedule a follow-up.
