Higher Education Savings Tip #6- Taking classes in the summer could save you thousands! Taking one summer class each summer could help you graduate a full semester early.

Of course this suggestion comes with a ton of advanced planning and might not work with every degree! Sit down with your advisor and see if summer school is a good idea for you.

Make sure you ask if you could take your general education classes at your local community college during the summers. The cost will be substantially less and could lead to saving thousands if you could graduate a semester early!

Higher Education Savings Tip #5- Fill out your FAFSA!! The FAFSA can save your family big dollars! You could be eligible for federal and state grants based on your income.

Do not skip completing your FAFSA every year you are enrolled in college!

Higher Education Savings Tip #4- Check into the school’s scholarships! Schools offer their own in house scholarships. Watch out for the deadline! They are usually December 1 or 15!

Also ask if the school has a scholarship competition! Some schools will invite your student to come compete for additional funds! F

Higher Education Savings Tip #3- Apply for FREE! Most schools offer a free application period. Application fees range from $35-$150 depending on the school!

Check the school’s website or give them a call and ask if they offer a free application period. Also ask if they provide a voucher for the application if you visit their school for a tour!
