Take Your Child to Work Day, 2026! 6 of our 7 children arrived at 9 AM and took turns climbing the ladder to change the message board outside our office to celebrate Henry's milestone birthday! Henry arrived at 9:30 after successfully obtaining his driver's permit at the DMV. The kids entered our conference room excitedly to see a table filled with prizes. Their first challenge? Decide whether to eat one Peace, Love and Little Donut *now* or wait 20 minutes and be allowed *two* donuts. All of them chose to wait, and we talked about the power of waiting when it comes to money. Invest today, enjoy compounded rewards later! Big Les held a handshaking clinic with the kids focused on eye contact, a smile and a confident grip. He also played left-right-center with the kids after a lesson about individual stocks, showing that sometimes in the short term, investing can feel like a game of chance. We discussed learning to talk with people and most importantly, asking people about themselves and listening to them, and the kids took turns talking with each other and learning all they could. They took a quiz on the history of Botkin Family Wealth Management, partook in an office scavenger hunt, played Who Has (a money game showing the value of coins), competed in a "Draw the CIO" contest, celebrated Big Les's upcoming 75th birthday and by the end we devolved into tossing footballs and playing hide and go seek. Whew! Right around noon, I checked my watch only to find that it was actually 9:51 AM. Lol! A great day with our beautiful kids!
