So with tax season officially over, seasonal contracts have ended and it's time to pivot and get ready for the next.

On the agenda for me this summer is to pursue my Enrolled Agent (EA) credential/certification so I can represent my clients before the IRS and help advocate for them directly as needed.

I will also be studying to become a certified bookkeeper and Quickbooks Pro Advisor so I can support clients from start to finish.

They only tell me I passed, but I have to say, this was the toughest exam yet...and they are all open book! The keys to this job are knowing where to find answers, and how to interpret them when you do.

After being out of the game for years, and suddenly needing to get back into the workforce, I had to catch back up in any way I could. Thank goodness for Intuit's free training that helped me refresh what I already knew and caught me up with all the changes since I last prepared taxes.

Then it was on to other centers offering accredited additional courses to up my game. All my continuing education is reported to the IRS and will be verifiable on my page in the RPO Preparer Directory at some point in January, 2026.
