Our Dayton office has been all over town the past few weeks from the swanky to the muddy.

Check out our team at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery's EcoBash Forest Faire, Preschool Promise event, MUD volleyball for epilepsy, Women's Build with Habitat for Humanity, and trivia night.

Special shout out to the teammate wannabe: the Eastern Screech Owl from the EcoBash who happened to not be screeching (thankfully).

Organizations lose an estimated 5% of annual revenue to occupational fraud.

Small business or enterprise, the numbers from the newly released ACFE 2026 Report to the Nations are a sobering reminder of the internal risks facing every organization today:

🔵 The Cost: Median losses hit $104,000 per scheme, while average losses top $1.4 million globally.

🔵 The Best Defense: 43% of cases are uncovered via employee tips, proving that accessible, anonymous reporting channels remain your most effective safeguard.

🔵 The Warning Signs: 84% of perpetrators display clear behavioral red flags before they are caught.

Early detection drastically minimizes total financial damage and protects your bottom line. Is your internal control environment equipped to spot these warning signs early? Brady Ware's Aubrey Glazman breaks it down to help your business stay ahead of the criminals: https://bradyware.com/2026-acfe-fraud-report-insights/

Two weeks ago, Wayne County (Indiana) was impacted by severe weather. Nearly unheard of in that area to have major flooding, numerous homes and businesses were impacted along with several downtown Cambridge City businesses facing a total rebuild.

Never strangers to supporting and helping our local communities, Brady Ware's Lynda Henderson, Ashlynne Osborne and Jennifer North volunteered to help others apply for the "Business Bridges Grant Program" this past Monday.

These grants are designed to help small businesses get back to business funded through the Economic Growth Group, the Wayne County government, and the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce.

If you need support or know of someone, please share this link discussing flood recovery help and assistance: https://www.wcareachamber.org/resources.html

When eminent domain strikes, government valuation offers routinely fall short of actual business worth. Protecting property rights and long-term value requires rigorous financial analysis before accepting an initial settlement offer.

Key steps to securing full just compensation:

➡️ Establish Highest and Best Use
➡️ Quantify Severance Damages
➡️ Inventory Specialized Assets
➡️ Project Long-Term Appreciation

A robust valuation provides the evidentiary leverage needed to challenge low government offers and protect your balance sheet.

Brady Ware's Aubrey Glazman covers the above and more here: https://bradyware.com/protecting-business-value-in-eminent-domain/

The long and winding road for FinCen's BOI reporting finally hit the end. FinCen formally terminated the obligation for domestic companies and individuals. And, for those domestic companies and individuals that did report, FinCen is actively purging existing records.

However, it is still active for foreign reporting companies.

Is your partnership form-ready, or is it audit-ready? 📊🔍

The IRS is officially leveling up its pass-through compliance enforcement. Gone are the days of manual spot-checks—the agency is now using advanced data analytics and automated risk assessment tools to flag financial inconsistencies in real time.

If your data strays from standard industry baselines, you could end up on their radar.

Here are 3 major triggers currently driving IRS partnership audits:

1️⃣ Unexplained balance sheet differences that don't add up year-over-year.
2️⃣ Disproportionate special allocations that lack a clear, substantial economic effect.
3️⃣ Partner losses or distributions that aren't fully backed by tax basis records.

Brady Ware's Jake Gentile talks about how clean books aren't just an accounting best practice anymore, they’re your primary defense strategy against automated enforcement.

Is your nonprofit telling stories that empower, or stories that exploit? 💭✨

Nonprofit storytelling is experiencing a major reckoning. Audiences are growing fatigued by outdated narratives, and organizations are realizing that the old way of fundraising often comes at a cost to the very communities they serve.

Here are 3 core shifts happening in modern nonprofit storytelling:

1️⃣ Moving past poverty fixation: Swapping transactional, sensationalized shock value for authentic human dignity.

2️⃣ Centering context over simplified tragedy: Helping donors understand the systemic issues behind the cause, not just individual hardship.

3️⃣ Ethical representation: Ensuring communities have agency in how their own stories are told raising funds without causing harm.

Storytelling will always be the heart of fundraising, but how we tell those stories matters more than ever. How is your organization evolving its narrative strategy to build deeper trust with donors?
