We decided this article would help explain why many of our clients have difficulties with the IRS. We have many that assume it is the Tax Preparer when in actuality it is the antiquated processes that exist in our Government. We are hoping that the Internal Revenue Service is able to at least become more updated in their processes after receiving the new Funds that are coming. I want to credit Steve Clifford, a fellow Tax Preparer with finding the article. Enjoy.🙂

The Internal Revenue Service is holding 29 million returns for manual processing — delaying refunds for many — because of pandemic-related law changes, processing errors, and fraud detection.

Most people have received these phone calls and if you haven't yet it may only be a matter of time. Any Federal Government entity will send you letters and will ask you to call them. I have only had a few calls from them and it was job related, not personal. Please don't panic your Social Security number can never be cancelled, in very rare events I have seen one changed but that is in extreme circumstances.

If someone calls you or leaves you a voicemail threatening to suspend or cancel your social security number, it's a scam. Hang up and don't call back.

Please know that any Taxing agency, IRS, a State or Local Government will always, always , always send you a letter first. They do not call you randomly. Please be careful if you do talk to them, the best thing to do is hang-up on them.

The 2019 Tax Season has begun on a fast pace, the new TCJA Laws seem to have encouraged many people to file early this year. The overall effect of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 has been positive for many of our clients. We look forward to helping our clients understand the differences the new Tax Laws have made to their tax return.

Remember the IRS will not call you, they will send you multiple notices by mail. They prefer you to call them with the number provided on that notice. They prefer to receive payment by check or credit card, NOT any kind of gift card or any other specialty cards. Please enjoy this short video of the officer speaking with a scammer.

Language may be a bit offensive but the general idea is correct. IRS will never call you unless they contact you by regular/snail mail. They will also let you know up front who they are and what their IRS ID number is.
