Well as many of you already know, after 33 years at Walmart my journey came to an end last month. With the closure of the Charlotte, North Carolina office, the decision to relocate to Bentonville, Arkansas wasn’t the right fit for this point in my life. I had been at Walmart for over half of my entire life, but everything must come to an end at some point.
From 23 years in the stores and 10 years in the Home Office, it has been a wild adventure for sure. I thought when I started, I would only stay to get some Christmas money, but one opportunity opened and then another and then another.
Thank you to literally the thousands of people whom I have worked with over all these years in the stores, at the Home Office, from all the vendors and the teams from all over the globe. So many people have become great friends that I don’t want to attempt to name them and chance leaving anyone out.
When you have worked with Walmart for so long you really don’t realize how big the company is and how impactful your work is all over the world. I have learned so much that I could never have imagined. Believe it or not, but I do already miss SAP, writing SQL queries to pull all that massive data and even making those dashboards in Dataiku.
But now to move on to the next chapter of my life, I thought for a long time about what was next because I knew my end was coming for a while. I love accounting and I wanted to continue in those lines.
I have started a new company doing bookkeeping and accounting for Small Business owners, HT Carolina Bookkeeping Services. I have found that many small business owners are too busy doing what they are good at, running their business. I can help free up their time doing what I am good at, bookkeeping and accounting. I have been working on getting started the past month. I am currently up to the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Gold Tier, I have my first client, but I am looking for many more. If you are a small business owner or know a small business owner that needs to get out of the “shoe box accounting method” or need their QuickBooks Online brought up to date and have accurate update records every month to know where they stand and help grow in the future.
