Grand Rising Mays Concepts Family:
I am getting calls from clients who have not received their Federal or NC State refunds. Please set some time aside and call the entity to find out what the delay may be. Have your tax documents ready for any and all tax-related questions for the year you are referring to. Also, be mindful of any changes the entity may have made. If changes were made that did not match your tax documents, then demand a Letter of Explanation for the changes. This will force them to explain why they made changes from the original tax documents that were accepted.

To the esteemed members of the Mint Hill Town Council, the Mayor, and Mint Hill Town Leadership, congratulations on the success of your campaigns. I am writing as a concerned business owner and a dedicated member of the Mint Hill community regarding an important issue that I believe is critical for the future of our town's safety and prosperity.
My company, Mays Concepts LLC, has been a proud part of the Mint Hill business landscape since 2017. Through my work and daily interactions within the community, I have observed the many positive aspects of living and working here. It is this appreciation for our town that compels me to respectfully request a greater emphasis on diversity and inclusion within the Town of Mint Hill staff, specifically, the Mint Hill Police Department.
A community as diverse as ours is best served by leadership and public safety organizations that reflect the demographics of its residents. Greater diversity within our town staff and police force is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is a strategic necessity for enhancing total safety and security on our streets.
Research and experience across various communities have shown that diverse police departments build stronger relationships with all segments of the population. This leads to increased trust, better communication, and a more comprehensive understanding of the unique needs and concerns of all residents. When every member of our community feels seen, heard, and represented by those who serve and protect them, we foster an environment of genuine collaboration and mutual respect. This, in turn, contributes to a safer and more secure Mint Hill for everyone.
I urge the Town of Mint Hill to actively review and implement policies aimed at recruiting and retaining a more diverse workforce across all departments, particularly within the police force. By embracing diversity and inclusion as core values, we can ensure that our town remains a welcoming, safe, and vibrant place for all residents and businesses.

FYI Tax Clients. The IRS, through an "Executive Order", will no longer issue refund checks.

IR-2025-94, Sept. 23, 2025 — The Internal Revenue Service, working with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, today announced that paper tax refund checks for individual taxpayers will be phased out beginning on Sept. 30, 2025, as required by Executive Order 14247, to the extent permitted by law.

For my New York Clients:

Scheduling withholding tax payments and e-filing first-quarter 2025 returns
The Tax Department is streamlining withholding tax and wage reporting forms and Web File applications. Due to these upcoming improvements:

you cannot currently schedule payments for dates after March 20, 2025; and
you cannot currently electronically file first-quarter 2025 Form NYS-45, Quarterly Combined Withholding, Wage Reporting, and Unemployment Insurance Return.
If you need to report you permanently ceased paying wages subject to withholding prior to March 20, 2025, you must submit a paper Form NYS-45.

When our improvements are live, you will be able to resume scheduling payments and begin electronically filing first-quarter NYS-45 returns. To stay up to date, subscribe to Withholding tax.
