Day Four of the Summit is about the part most curricula skip: the systems that make the seat sustainable when life is loud.

Because filling the Financial seat once is the easy part. Five days at a summit and then spending an afternoon with your P&L. Anyone can do that for a week.

The hard part is sitting in the seat again next Tuesday. And the Tuesday after that. And the Tuesday in October when the seat feels cold and avoidable and the Sales seat looks much more interesting.

Sustainability requires rhythm. We want to build a weekly relationship with your numbers that’s small enough to actually keep. Today is how we build it, together, in real time.

Tomorrow is Day 5. The piece that turns this week from content into change.

Today is Day Two of the Take The Seat Summit:
The Financially Sexy CEO.

And this is the day that surprises women the most. Because it’s the day we sit with the truth no one in this industry says out loud: financial avoidance has never been a math problem. It has always been an emotional one.

That’s why the spreadsheets haven’t worked. That’s why the courses didn’t stick. That’s why the new software you bought is sitting open in a tab nobody clicks.

The tools were never the problem. If you don’t understand the numbers, it is impossible to use the tools correctly.

The conversation underneath the conversation has been waiting, and today is where we finally have it.

If you missed Day 1 yesterday, the replay is already in your account. Catch up tonight and walk into the rest of the week with us.

I have to say this part carefully, because women hear “Financial CEO seat” and immediately picture spreadsheets and a calculator and someone telling them they need to be a numbers person.

You don’t. The Financial CEO seat is not an accounting seat. It is a leadership seat that happens to use financial data.

The work is not learning bookkeeping. The work is learning to read what your numbers are already telling you, ask the questions that make the picture clear, and lead the business from what you can see and understand about your finances.

You do not need to become an accountant. You need to become the woman who refuses to lead her business from two seats when there are three. Leadership is the key.

That’s exactly what the Take The Seat Summit teaches. Five days. Free. July 13–17.

Built for women founders of service businesses ready to stop running two-thirds of their business. Doors open Monday.

Priya runs a thriving brand strategy studio. Six figures with a waitlist and a strong reputation. When we did her one-month seat audit, here is what we found:

Sales seat: full. Four major conversations with two retainers closed and she rates raised on one of her packaged.

Marketing seat: full. A podcast guest swing, two strong LinkedIn posts and a sales page rebuild.

Financial seat: empty. She did not look at her P&L. She did not pay herself. She did not check whether her new rate fixed her margin problem or just made her busier at the same profit.

Her business was running her, not the other way around. Once she could see that the Sales and Marketing seats were full and the Financial seat had been empty all month, the exhaustion she couldn’t explain finally had a name.

Priya didn’t need to work harder. She needed to sit down in the seat she had not been told was hers. If you’re reading this and quietly recognizing your own pattern, that’s exactly why we built the Summit.

At the end of June, Carla built her first 30-day forecast for July. It took her 25 minutes.

It surfaced one problem early: in week 3, her two largest client payments weren’t due until week 4, so her forecasted balance dipped to $900, dangerously thin.

She saw that week-3 dip on June 29, a full month ahead. So, she did one thing: she emailed her two big clients a friendly note offering a small discount for paying a week sooner. One said yes. The week-3 dip vanished before July even began.

Carla didn’t earn more money. She didn’t cut anything. She simply saw a thin week coming from a month away and nudged one payment forward. That is the entire power of forecasting.

This closes our June focus on Your Cash Flow Number. Five weeks, one idea: cash is a different number than profit, and seeing it clearly is what turns financial anxiety into financial leadership.

The reserve you start this week with $200 matters more than the perfect reserve you start ‘next quarter’ with thousands.

Because the one you start now actually exists.

Open a separate savings account, ideally at a different bank, so the money is slightly out of reach. Money in your main account gets spent. Money in a reserve account gets protected.

Move something in today. $100, $250, whatever is genuinely available. The first transfer isn’t about the number, it’s about turning the reserve from a someday idea into a real account with real money in it.

Then automate a small recurring transfer right after your income reliably lands, and write one rule for when you’re allowed to touch it. Begin it small, automate it, protect it, and let it grow into the quiet that every slow month should feel like.

I worked with two women in the same industry. Similar revenue, similar margins, both genuinely profitable. From the outside, you could not have told them apart.

Then the same slow season hit them both. They each had a few clients delaying projects, just run of the mill business, nothing catastrophic. This is the kind of dip every business eventually has.

One business owner had spent every profitable month as it came. When the slow season arrived, she had nothing set aside. She stopped paying herself, leaned on a credit card, and spent four months anxiously clawing her way back. The dip nearly broke her, and she was profitable the whole time.

The other business owner had quietly built a reserve. Same dip but it did not interrupt her business. She drew from the reserve, paid herself and her team on time, treated the whole thing as a planned event, and refilled it when the season turned. She barely remembers that dip now.

Same industry. Similar profit. Completely different experiences of the same hard months. The only variable was whether they’d turned some of their profit into a reserve before they needed it.

One had a measurement of the past. The other had a vision for the future. This week’s free CEO Ledger shows you how to build the second one → theprofitablepenny.substack.com

Thirty minutes, one time, and you’ll own a map you’ll use for the rest of the year.

Draw a simple calendar of one month or download a free printable one from online. Mark every recurring expense on the day it hits, subscriptions, contractors, rent, your own draw, quarterly charges. Pull them from last month’s statement so they’re real dates, not guesses.

Then mark when money reliably comes in. If clients are net-30, mark the payment 30 days after you invoice, not when you sent it.

Now find the gap, the stretch where expenses have happened, but revenue hasn’t arrived. Circle it. For most businesses, there’s one obvious tight week, and it’s the same week every month. That is your pinch week.

Then make one timing change: move a single large or optional expense out of the pinch week and into your full week. That one shift, made on purpose, often erases the squeeze entirely, without earning a single extra dollar.

Before you map it, find out whether you’re running on ‘around’ instead of ‘exactly.’
