Beginning Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2022, businesses can claim 100% of their food or beverage expenses paid to restaurants as long as the business owner (or an employee of the business) is present when food or beverages are provided and the expense is not lavish or extravagant under the circumstances.

From the Wisconsin Deparment of Revenue website:

The federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Public Law 117-2), signed into law on March 11, 2021, allows an exclusion of up to $10,200 of unemployment compensation (UC) on the 2020 federal income tax return. This federal law does not apply for Wisconsin tax purposes.

This article will be replaced if Wisconsin law changes.

We have received confirmation from the State of Wisconsin that you will NOT need to amend your Wisconsin return to receive Earned Income Credit based on your prior year's income. The state will be handling this and will send the payment directly to you.

There was a recent change to the law, provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, where taxpayers who received too much in advance premium tax credits in 2020 will not have to repay the excess amount. We are waiting for further instructions/updated forms from the IRS on how to reflect this on your tax return.

We are aware of the change that went into effect today in regard to unemployment. We will be amending tax returns as time allows. At this time, we are processing scheduled returns and will begin the amendments. We will contact you when your amendment is ready to be picked up at the office.
