IMA Shared Interest Groups aren't just discussion forums. They're changing how people think and sometimes even how standards get written.
Our latest Count Me In podcast featured three Shared Interest Group leaders: Izz Ghanaa Ansari, Amanda Bernard, and Tala Khalifeh. They shared why they got involved and the power of their communities. A few highlights:
▸ A question about whether it's okay to call employees "resources" sparked a global conversation in the People and Culture group about language, respect, and workplace culture.
▸ At the Professional Ethics group's first webinar, the conversations weren't theoretical. Members were discussing situations they were living through at work.
▸ Members of the Small Business group met with FASB’s Private Company Council and helped shape actual accounting standards.
This is what IMA Shared Interest Groups look like in practice. If you're not part of one yet, come find your community. IMA offers nine Shared Interest Groups across accounting and finance topics.
