Happy New Year. Welcome 2022.
Now is the time to begin gathering your tax documents to file your 2021 Income taxes.

Things to Know:
**If you received Advanced Child Tax Credits this year, YOU MUST bring the letter you received from the IRS with the amount you have received. This amount must be included on your tax return and must match what the IRS has on file for each of your dependents. Failure to report or reporting the wrong amount WILL CAUSE YOUR RETURN TO BE HELD UP until the discrepancy can be resolved.

**If you received any Stimulus payment you must include this on your tax return as well.

**Please make sure you have received ALL tax and income statements, receipts and expenses. Employers and businesses have until Jan. 31 to MAIL out W2's and tax documents. There may be a delay up to 2 weeks in receiving those mailed documents.

To reduce the amount of illness exposure to our clients and staff, DO NOT COME IN IF YOU ARE SICK. We are asking every one to drop off your information and schedule a follow-up appointment to review and sign your return. Please call 618-745-6100.

***The IRS has not yet released information regarding when the filing season will begin. We will update as information becomes available.

We know many of you are anxiously awaiting your federal tax refunds. According to the latest information from the IRS, they are behind in processing approximately 35 MILLION tax refunds.
The delays are due to verifiying the amounts of the first 2 stimulus payments claimed on the tax return. They are also verifying child tax credits and earned income credits. The unemployment tax basis has also changed which they are attempting to adjust as well.

At this time, the IRS is still processing refunds from return filed in February. So it is difficult to predict when anyone will receive their refund.

Unfortunately, since we only prepare your tax return, we do not have any control over when you will receive your refund. In most cases, we cannot access any more information than you can due to privacy restrictions.

All of these issues are beyond our control and we understand your frustrations.

Feel free to pass this along
