30 years ago this week I founded Matthew Baker Wealth Partners in my attic .
Originally, it was only intended to make additional money doing tax returns in order to send my children to a Catholic High School .
I must tell you I am here because of teachers . You always meet special people that encourage learning. I still recall my Teacher at Mt. Carmel suggesting to me to consider becoming an accountant.
Later in Life, I had a dear friend who was a high school teacher that I reconnected with after receiving my degrees in accounting and management from Calumet College of St. Joseph. He had a friend who was the department chair of the Certified Financial Planner program at St. Xavier.
At his urging and that of my wife I continued studies at St. Xavier.
My wife caught my learning disabilty and showed me a better way to study. My GPA soared after that and the rest is history.
All the great teachers including my wife said that learning is a life long endeavor.
Last Year, I went back to college to study supply side economics . This year I plan to attend MIT one of the best tech colleges in the world to study A-I and future trends in technology. I find this will help me in my role as portfolio manager as well as wealth manager.
I am truly blessed that along my life path I met some amazing teachers. I am very thankful . Especially, to my wife . A great teacher and co-founder of Matthew Baker Wealth Partners.
