💚🧡💙 October 27, 2024 — The Day Our Lives Changed Forever. 🕊️
Two years ago today, our world was shattered. On October 27, 2024, my son, Joshua Burns, affectionately known as “Jiffy,” was shot. In a matter of moments, our lives changed forever.
October 29, 2024, is the day my son was pronounced brain dead. A day no mother should ever have to experience. A day that left a pain in my heart that words will never be able to explain.
As I look at Joshua’s headstone, I see more than a memorial. I see my son’s FINAL ACT OF LOVE. ❤️
Even in death, Joshua became a HERO. Through organ donation, he gave six families a second chance at life. His heart continues to beat, his gifts continue to give, and his legacy continues to live on in others.

Indiana — Kidney
Georgia — Kidney
Minnesota — Pancreas
North Carolina — Heart
Kentucky — Left Lung
Six families. Six second chances. One extraordinary young man. 💚
Joshua, I wish more than anything that you were still here. I wish I could hear your laugh, see your smile, watch you dance, and hug you one more time. I never imagined I would be standing here looking at your name on a headstone instead of watching you live out your dreams.
But I made a promise that your name would never be forgotten.
Through the Joshua Burns Foundation, we will continue to raise awareness about gun violence, educate our communities about organ donation, and turn unimaginable pain into purpose.
Gun violence took my son’s future, but it will NEVER erase his legacy.
To every parent who has lost a child to gun violence, I stand with you. To every family waiting for a lifesaving organ, I pray for you. And to the six families carrying a part of my Joshua, please know that you carry a piece of my heart, too.
Rest peacefully, my sweet Jiffy. Mommy loves you beyond words, beyond time, and beyond this life. Become a HERO today!! Bethegifttoday.com
Forever Joshua’s Mom.
Forever His Voice.
Forever His Legacy.
