Four years ago, I quit my job, grabbed my laptop, and decided to take Hillside Books full time while taking a nomad year.
(Yes… starting a bookkeeping firm while living out of a suitcase. 10/10 do not recommend for stress levels.)
Balancing travel and building a business that first year was hard. There were days I was closing books from airports, taking client calls from tiny rentals, and wondering if I had completely lost my mind.
But it has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.
Since then, Hillside Books has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.
We’ve:
✔️ Cleaned up more books than I can count
✔️ Built smoother AP/AR systems
✔️ Mastered ServiceTitan → QBO workflows
✔️ And saved our clients millions in tax through our cleanup and advisory work
It hasn’t always been easy. But it has always been worth it.
Here’s to year four; to growth, clarity, better financials for the home service trades, and continuing to build something that actually makes an impact.
