One of our favorite local traditions is coming up, and this one's close to home. For those who don't know, Barbara serves on the Napa JLAC, and her son shows pigs every year.

Here's what to put on your calendar:

🐖 Livestock Show (judging): Wednesday, August 5.
Watch local kids show their animals and earn their awards

🎡 Napa Town & Country Fair: August 7–9 at the fairgrounds

🔨 Livestock Auction: Saturday, August 8
Bid on an animal and stock your freezer for the year while supporting the kids who raised them

Whether you come for the carnival, the kids, or the chance to fill your freezer with local pork or beef, it's a great Napa morning out. More details and photos to come!

Here's something we tell new business owners all the time: you never really know where your next client will come from.

It might be a conversation at the coffee shop or a face you recognize from a community event. It could be someone who remembered, months later, that you offered to help if they ever needed it.

In Napa, business runs on relationships, and that's not a small thing. The connections you make and the way you show up in your community tend to matter just as much as anything on your website.

Some of the best client relationships we've seen didn't start with a sales pitch. They started with someone simply being a good, helpful presence in the room.

Some of our favorite client relationships are the ones measured in decades.

Cole's Chop House has been a fixture in downtown Napa since 2000, and is a classic American steakhouse where the walls are lined with black-and-white photos of longtime regulars, not celebrities. That tells you something about how they do business!

We've worked closely with Cole's for many years, and with time comes trust. You learn a business's rhythms. You handle things the same way, month after month, so nothing slips. It's the same thing we tell every client: do it right, not quick.

26 years in, Cole's is still getting it right. We're proud to be a small part of how they keep it running. 🥩

Still figuring out summer plans for the kids? You're not alone, and you don't have to look far!

Connolly Ranch has been a Napa staple for hands-on, outdoorsy learning for years. They run summer camps for kids ages 3–12, plus leadership and counselor-in-training programs for the older crew (13-15). It's the kind of place where kids get to be outside, get their hands dirty, and actually unplug for a while.

Summer sessions tend to fill up, so if it's on your list, it's worth a look sooner rather than later.

Today, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. We’re grateful for their sacrifice and the freedoms it allows us to live and work the way we do every day.

The most overlooked part of your books (that matters more than you think)...

A lot of business owners focus on their P&L (understandably). But we see the biggest issues show up somewhere else:

👉 The balance sheet.

It’s common for things to quietly pile up there. You know, old account balances, miscategorized items, or “mystery amounts” that don’t get revisited. The catch is: if your balance sheet is messy, it can eventually impact how accurate (and useful) your financials are overall.
