Mid-Year Standard Mileage Rate Increase: Effective July 1, 2026, the standard business mileage rate rose to $0.76 per mile (up from $0.72.5). The rate for medical or moving purposes increased to $0.23.5 per mile (up from $0.20.5). The charitable rate remains fixed by statute at $0.14 per mile.

All customers claiming mileage will need January to June totals, July- December totals.

Pennsylvania Department of Revenue states: Text Message Scam Alert: We’re aware of reported text messages that claim to be from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue asking you to update banking information. If you get this message do not reply or click any link and delete it from your device. We will never send unsolicited texts asking for personal data.

Taxpayers are still seeing a balance due in their IRS.gov online accounts that does not match their actual balance.

Payments are being recorded in the payment activity (a separate tab in your online account), but they apparently are not yet reflected in the balance due.

If you’re checking your balance due, click over to that payment tab, too. And be sure to double-check the amount.

Hopefully, the IRS will get this sorted before it sends send out more notices.

As you are getting ready for tax season, I recommend setting up an account on IRS.gov if you don't already have one. It gives you eay access to your tax records, transcripts and important information.

Don't forget to keep your IP Pin paperwork in a safe place. If you have used an IP Pin in the previous year you will be issued a new one.

Also be sure to save your last pay stub of the year, it's a helpful way to track your total earnings and overtime and tips if you have any.
