A great brand doesn’t automatically mean a great investment. 🍔
It’s easy to fall in love with a franchise as a customer.
You know the logo. You like the product. The stores are busy. There might even be a line out the door.
But when you become the franchisee, you’re not buying the burger.
You’re buying the business behind the burger.
And that means looking past the brand to understand the royalties, margins, labor costs, occupancy costs, debt, unit economics, and what could realistically be left for you as the owner.
A recognizable brand can be a major advantage. But it doesn’t remove the need to do your homework.
Don’t just recognize the wrapper. Look inside. 😉
📗 That’s exactly the kind of thinking I explore in Franchisee Fortune, based on what I learned as both a franchise owner and a CPA advising franchise businesses.
