Helping childcare owners stop overpaying the IRS

Here's something most childcare owners don't realize until it costs them: if you're self-employed and not paying quarterly estimated taxes, the IRS can charge you a penalty on top of your tax bill.

As a business owner, you're expected to pay taxes as you earn not just once a year in April.

Fourth quarter estimated taxes are due January 15th. If you've underpaid throughout the year, you'll owe interest and penalties, even if you pay your full bill when you file.

This isn't a loophole. It's the system and you need to know where you stand.

A tax assessment tells you exactly what you should be paying quarterly, so April doesn't turn into an ugly surprise.

Book your tax assessment before the fourth quarter closes. https://access.daycareaccountingpro.com/tap-home-page

YOUR HOME COULD BE PART OF YOUR TAX STRATEGY.

You spend countless hours running your childcare business managing staff, meeting with your team, planning for growth, and making important business decisions.

But have you ever considered whether your home is being used for legitimate business purposes that could potentially have tax implications?

The Augusta Rule is one strategy that may be relevant in certain situations.

For example, your home may be used for:

🏠 Business meetings
📋 Planning sessions
🎯 Strategy meetings

But here's the important part:

You can't just claim it because you had a meeting at home.

There are specific rules, business-purpose requirements, reasonable rental considerations, and documentation requirements that need to be addressed.

And with September almost over, now is the time to review your numbers and your tax strategy, not after the year is already over.

If your childcare business is having a strong year, don't wait until tax season to ask: "Is there anything I could have done differently?"

Ask the question NOW, while there's still time to plan.

👉 Would the Augusta Rule potentially apply to your childcare business?

Comment “AUGUSTA” below and we'll send you more information about a FREE Tax Assessment.

Tax strategies depend on your specific facts and circumstances. Consult a Certified Tax Strategist before implementing any strategy.

How much should you really charge for daycare?

Looking at competitor prices is helpful—but it shouldn't be the only factor.

Your tuition rates need to reflect your actual staffing costs, enrollment, classroom capacity, overhead, discounts, and profit goals. Otherwise, a center can stay busy and still struggle financially.

Our latest article explains how childcare business owners can use real financial data to set more sustainable tuition rates and make better decisions about staffing, growth, and profitability.

🚨CHILDCARE OWNERS: A BIG TAX BILL SHOULD NEVER BE A SURPRISE.

You worked hard to fill your classrooms.

You hired staff.
You handled payroll.
You dealt with rising expenses.
You kept your center running.

And then tax time comes and suddenly you're looking at a huge tax bill.

The frustrating part?

Many childcare owners don't start thinking about reducing their tax liability until their CPA is already preparing the return.

By then, some planning opportunities may already be gone.

And with September almost over, there are only a few months left in 2026 to look at what tax strategies may be available for your business.

We recently helped a childcare business owner save $900,000 in taxes through proper tax planning.

That doesn't mean every childcare business will have the same result but it does show what's possible when you plan before tax season instead of reacting to it.

💰 If your childcare business is having a strong year, now is the time to start looking at your tax strategy.

Childcare owners: Are you already planning for your 2026 tax bill, or are you waiting until tax season?

We recently helped a childcare business owner save $900,000 in taxes by identifying and applying tax strategies that were relevant to their business.

TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 25. 🚨

Childcare owners, if you're still saying “I'll deal with my taxes later,” this is your reminder:

Tax planning needs to happen BEFORE tax season.

We're entering the final stretch of 2026, and some tax strategies require action before the year ends.

The question isn't:

❌ “How much do I owe?”

The question is:

✅ “What can I still do NOW to potentially reduce my 2026 tax bill?”

Don't wait until your tax return is being prepared to start asking questions.

🧾 Childcare owners: Did you make major purchases for your center this year?

Equipment. Furniture. Technology. Playground improvements.

Before you simply record those purchases as expenses, there may be a bigger tax-planning conversation worth having.

One strategy worth exploring is accelerated depreciation.

Depending on the asset, when it was placed in service, your business structureand other factors, qualifying property may be eligible for faster depreciation or expensing.

But here's the important part:

Tax planning works best BEFORE the tax return is prepared not after.

📊 Now is the time to review your numbers not after tax season.

Biggest mistake we see in childcare books?

Facility improvements and equipment purchases, sitting there as a flat expense.

Not because it's wrong on the surface. Because it's leaving money on the table.

The right depreciation strategy can spread or accelerate those write-offs in a way that actually fits your business.

One line item. A completely different tax outcome.

Most childcare owners have never heard of this one.

You can move money into an account that grows completely tax-free for the rest of your life.

It's called a ROTH CONVERSION.

Here's how it works: you move money from a pre-tax account (like a traditional IRA) into a Roth IRA. That conversion is usually taxable but timing changes everything.

Convert in a lower-income year, or alongside other deductions, and that tax bill can shrink.
Once the money's in the Roth, future qualified growth and withdrawals can come out completely tax-free.

This isn't a loophole. It's a tool that's been used in retirement planning for decades. The only thing most people are missing is knowing when and how to convert.

Want to know if this is your year? Drop "ROTH" in the comments and let's talk. 👇
