I know that most of my content is focused on my practice and career, but I wanted to post a more personal note to share a glimpse into my world outside of work...
There have been seasons in my life where things felt anything but stable: Foster care. Adoption. Foster care again. Emancipation. Sandwich generation struggles. Losing a parent far too early. Navigating family issues. Divorce. The loss of a stepchild.
And then, in just the last 8 months, a welcome change of seasons: Marriage. A new last name. Earning my CFP® marks. Buying a home and moving into it smoothly. A new horizon!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life doesn’t move in a straight line. It stretches you, reshapes you, and asks you to evolve in ways you never expected. But through every high and every heartbreak, I’ve tried to stay grounded in a set of values that continue to guide me, both personally and professionally. I use the acronym "THRIVE":
T. Trust in faith
H. Honor your health
R. Relationships matter
I. Invest with purpose
V. Value the earth and environment
E. Empower, educate, and encourage others
These aren’t just words to me. They’ve been anchors. In the hardest seasons and the most joyful ones, they’ve helped me stay steady, focused, and intentional. They’ve shaped how I show up for my loved ones, my community, and my clients. They’ve reminded me who I am, even when everything around me was changing. They keep me focused on leading with faith, building meaningful relationships, prioritizing my wellbeing, growing wealth with purpose, and striving to make a positive impact.
And if you’re walking through your own season of change, growth, or rebuilding, I hope you know that you can choose your own values that ground and guide you, too.
