The Sussex County Republican Party: Building Momentum and Delivering Results (2023–2026)
When I became Chairman of the Sussex County Republican Committee in 2023, our mission was clear: strengthen our organization, grow our Republican base, increase voter participation, and continue building upon Sussex County’s proud tradition as the Republican stronghold of New Jersey.
Over the past several years, the hard work of our municipal chairs, county committee members, elected officials, candidates, volunteers, and grassroots activists has produced measurable results.
Since 2023, Republican registration in Sussex County has grown by nearly 2,800 voters, increasing our Republican voter base from approximately 49,300 registered Republicans to more than 52,000 today. During that same period, our Republican advantage over Democrats expanded from approximately 22,600 voters to more than 24,000 voters. Today, Republicans maintain nearly a 2-to-1 registration advantage over Democrats, giving Sussex County one of the strongest Republican foundations in New Jersey.
24/24 towns in our county are predominately led by Republicans. We hold the county, the clerkship, and the district
But registration numbers are only part of the story. The true measure of a political organization is whether it can translate that support into votes.
In the 2024 Presidential Election, Sussex County Republicans delivered a historic performance. President Donald J. Trump received more than 52,000 votes in Sussex County, increasing his vote total by more than 4,000 votes compared to 2020. Sussex County once again ranked among the strongest Republican counties in New Jersey, with Republican voters turning out at a high level and delivering overwhelming support.
In the 2025 Gubernatorial Election, Republican nominee Jack Ciattarelli also improved his performance in Sussex County. Compared to his 2021 gubernatorial campaign, Ciattarelli increased his Sussex County vote total by approximately 1,800 votes, receiving more than 38,000 votes countywide. Sussex County again demonstrated that our Republican organization can deliver strong results in statewide elections.
Our grassroots energy has also increased. In the 2025 Republican Primary, Republican participation reached one of the strongest levels in recent years, with more than 30% of registered Republicans casting ballots. This reflects a committee that is engaged, active, and connected with voters. While that may seem small, it is a vast improvement from years past.
These accomplishments did not happen by accident. They are the result of thousands of hours of work by our Republican family — knocking doors, making phone calls, hosting events, recruiting candidates, supporting campaigns, and staying connected with our communities.
While we should be proud of what we have accomplished, we know our work is not finished. Sussex County has more than 40,000 unaffiliated voters, representing an enormous opportunity to continue growing our coalition and bringing more voters into the Republican Party. In 2023, our committee paid ALOT of money for a poll. This poll said 65% of unafilliated voters in Hopatcong, Sparta, Newton and Vernon lead conservative. I believe that number has risen.
The foundation we have built since 2023 has positioned the Sussex County Republican Committee for continued success. We are stronger, more organized, and better prepared for the challenges ahead.
This fall, we have as of now, 36 Republican Candidates County wide. Every Republican Candidate will receive some measure of support, reguardless of the priority or whether challenged or not, from the SCRC.
CD7 is in danger. The southern half of the county has benefited greately from Congressman Tom Kean and we will be turning out a max effort to keep him in. The future of election integrity, rights of unborn, rights to self defense and the rights of businesses to prosper depends on this.
Thank you to every committee member, volunteer, elected official, and supporter who has helped make this progress possible.
Together, we will continue to keep Sussex County Republican.
