Heads up about paying vendors using QuickBooks Online Vendor Direct.

One of my colleagues recently reported to me that she has seen vendor invoices being paid the moment an invoice is sent to a QuickBooks Online subscriber. The culprit is Vendor Direct. The problem can happen if you previously paid a vendor via Bill Pay, the bill attachment includes a payment link that supports credit card processing, and the invoice is not over $25k. QuickBooks defaults to auto-pay with no separate approval being required.

The solution to stop these automatic payments for any business using QB Bill Pay to pay their vendors:
- In QBO, go to Gear Icon in the top right corner
- Select Account & Settings
- Select Expenses in the left navigation menu
- In the Bill Pay section, deselect or disable Vendor direct for invoices
- Click Save to apply changes

Good news for a Monday morning - FinCEN's Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting (BOIR) will not be enforced.

The Treasury Department announced March 2 that it will no longer enforce the Corporate Transparency Act or the associated Beneficial Ownership Information reporting requirements.
