It's 1099 Season! Are you issuing 1099 forms to the right people for the right amounts?

For example: your business pays a painter $10,000 in the year - $5,000 was paid via Zelle and $5,000 was paid via credit card.
What amount should you issue a 1099 NEC for?

The answer is $5,000. When a business pays for a service by credit card they are not required to issue a 1099 for that, but when you pay for a service by check, Zelle or ACH transfer the business is required to issue a 1099NEC.
