CSUN VITA CSUN VITA Services will be offered at the CSUN campus and several remote sites in the community beginning January 22, 2018 through April 14, 2018.

Under the supervision of experienced tax practitioners, trained and certified CSUN students provide free tax preparation services, both federal and state, to eligible low income taxpayers. The CSUN VITA Clinic is sponsored by the Bookstein Institute for Higher Education in Taxation in the Department of Accounting & Information Systems at the David Nazarian College of Business & Economics. While su

pported by the IRS, the CSUN VITA Clinic is not part of or affiliated with the IRS. CSUN Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) was honored to be recognized by the City of San Fernando during the Special Community Recognition Ceremony!
 
We are incredibly grateful to the City of San Fernando City Council for recognizing the CSUN VITA Program with a proclamation Honoring 56 Years of Service.

The proclamation recognizes CSUN VITA for its 56 years of dedicated service providing free tax preparation assistance and financial guidance to individuals and families, while also creating meaningful opportunities for CSUN students to serve their community and apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

We are especially proud that the City recognized the strong partnership between CSUN VITA and the City of San Fernando and the positive impact this collaboration has had on residents and families throughout the community.

This honor belongs to our dedicated student volunteers, faculty, staff, and community partners who continue to make VITA possible year after year.

Thank you to the San Fernando City Council, Mayor Victoria Garcia, Vice Mayor Patty Lopez, Councilmember Mary Mendoza, Councilmember Mary Soriano, and Councilmember Sean M. Rivas for this tremendous recognition and for supporting our mission of service.

In 2026, the CSUN Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Clinic clinched the top ranking VITA site nationally in terms of returns transmitted. Powered with the support of over 466 student volunteers, the CSUN VITA Clinic provided free tax preparation to over 11,894 low-income taxpayers in Los Angeles County. In all, CSUN VITA Clinic helped taxpayers claim nearly $14.5 million in tax refunds and $4.8 million in federal and state Earned Income Tax Credits. The clinic operated a total of 18 tax preparation sites throughout Los Angeles County operating six days per week to help low-income taxpayers submit their tax returns and obtain their tax credits and tax refunds. CSUN’s VITA Clinics are helping Californians qualify for the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC).
