Rest in paradise, cousin. You really got me with this one and the whole Oakland. No matter what, you always kept it light, and everyone loved you, not just me.
When we were young, you used to get so mad that I wanted to follow you and Gkujae around everywhere, but somehow y’all let me come anyway. Well… I blackmailed y’all and said I was telling, lol.
From riding BMXs around the neighborhood, water fights with Super Soakers, skateboarding on E 32nd, hopping fences, sitting on the fences clowning each other… to you and Gkujae being mad because I was in y’all’s summer class. And Miss McCoy slapping your ass with the ruler.
Playing tag, running across, and just simply hanging with the whole neighborhood — Bruce, Bobby, Quinton, Tisa, Menia, W***y, Sharise, Delondo, and so many more I can’t seem to remember to add.
Then we moved, and when I came back, we ended up going to the same high school. You saw me in the San Leandro hallway, and the first thing you said was, “Don’t do it, cousin, with your bad ass.” We cracked up so hard.
From childhood to adults pool parties, SDU photo shoots, deep conversations, and jokes. Your spirit was like no other.
Cousin, I love you, and I know God don’t make no mistakes — but this one hit. It’s so hard to say goodbye to your life on earth. Your family, friends, and town love you.
Until we meet again, rest easy.
