The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) introduced several new deductions that taxpayers can claim even without itemizing on their returns. Since existing federal tax forms couldn’t handle these changes, the IRS has rolled out a new form for the 2025 tax year: Schedule 1-A (Form 1040), Additional Deductions, to properly report them. You’ll need to fill out Schedule 1-A and include it with your return if you qualify for any of these:

No Tax on Tips
No Tax on Overtime
No Tax on Car Loan Interest
Enhanced Deduction for Seniors (age 65+)

Some of these require detailed info like income proof, job details, loan records, or age verification to back up your claims. Mistakes or missing info could slow down processing or reduce your deduction, so teaming up with a tax pro can make a big difference—especially if that pro is me! Give me a call or send a message and let’s chat.

🚨 Big Tax News for Overtime Workers!

If you worked extra hours in 2025, you may qualify for the new No Tax on Overtime deduction—part of the One Big Beautiful Bill. This benefit lets eligible workers deduct the premium portion of their overtime pay, helping reduce taxable income and potentially increase refunds.
Here’s what to know:

• You may deduct up to $12,500 of qualified overtime pay ($25,000 if married filing jointly).
• Applies to tax years 2025 through 2028.
• Deduction phases out for higher‑income earners (starting at $150,000 MAGI or $300,000 MFJ).
• You must have valid documentation (W‑2, 1099, etc.) showing qualified overtime.

💡 Not sure if your overtime qualifies?

I can help you understand the rules, calculate your eligible deduction, and make sure you claim every tax break available this season. All you have to do is reach out and let’s make your extra hours pay off even more!

📢 Big News for Tipped Workers!

A new federal tax change means qualified tips MAY now be deducted, helping millions of workers keep more of what they earn. If you work in a profession where tips are a regular part of your income—like restaurants, salons, fitness, hospitality, or gig work—you may qualify for this new benefit.
This deduction can lower your taxable income and potentially increase your refund for the 2025 tax year. It’s a major win for hardworking individuals who rely on tips every day.

💡 Not sure if your tips qualify? Need help claiming the deduction correctly? I’m here to guide you through it and make sure you get every tax break you deserve.

✨ Reach out if you have any question and let’s make tax season easier—and more rewarding—for you!

FILING STATUS 101 📑 (Because this part REALLY matters)

Your filing status is the foundation of your tax return.
Choose the wrong one? You could lose money, trigger IRS questions, or delay your refund.

Here’s the breakdown 👇🏽

1️⃣ Single
✔️ Not married
✔️ No qualifying dependents
✔️ Lived alone or supported yourself

Simple… but not always the best option if you qualify for something else.

2️⃣ Married Filing Jointly (MFJ)
✔️ Married as of Dec 31
✔️ Combine both incomes
✔️ Usually the largest tax benefits

Most married couples should start here—but strategy still matters.

3️⃣ Married Filing Separately (MFS)
✔️ Married but filing apart
⚠️ Fewer credits
⚠️ Often higher taxes

Used for very specific situations—not a refund maximizer.

4️⃣ Head of Household (HOH)
✨ The most misunderstood status ✨
✔️ Unmarried
✔️ Paid more than half the household expenses
✔️ Supported a qualifying dependent

HOH = higher standard deduction + better tax brackets
But it must be proven, not assumed.

5️⃣ Qualifying Widow(er)
✔️ Spouse passed away
✔️ Has dependent children
✔️ Allows MFJ benefits for a limited time

Often overlooked, but extremely valuable.

⸝

Tax Pro Tip 💡
Your filing status is based on facts, not vibes.
Living situations, support, dependents, and documentation all matter.

This is why DIY filing can cost you 💸

Work with a tax professional who asks the RIGHT questions.
Compliance + Strategy = Maximum Refund (the legal way).
