As everything in business changes at a rapid pace with new technologies emerging every day, one of the newest and most powerful is AI - Artificial Intelligence. Although some are skeptical of the power that AI has, we at FishBone have experience using AI and are learning very quickly how to benefit your business while still keeping your assets, financial and confidential information and cash secure.

Just recently we've used AI to download numerous older statements and consolidate them into one uploadable file, saving hours of time and effort and saving the client billable hours as well.

AI is a long way off from replacing the human accounting function - if it does ever get that far. The knowledge we have gained and continue to gain so far is something we look forward to discussing with each of our clients on how to better manage our time and financials.

Do you know who is actually handling your books?

This might be an uncomfortable question, but it's one every business owner should ask.

I've seen too many situations where bookkeeping or accounting work is outsourced, and the client has no idea who is actually handling their financial information.
The result? Delayed reports, unanswered questions, and books that often need significant cleanup later.

A CPA can be more than just tax...

When most people hear “CPA,” they think taxes — especially with some of the recent posts on LinkedIn.

A CPA can support a business in many different ways:
• Financial reporting and clean books
• KPIs and performance tracking
• Forecasting and cash flow planning
• Strategy and decision-making
• Day-to-day accounting operations
• Technical / GAAP accounting
• Audits and audit readiness
• Forensic accounting and issue investigation
• Systems and processes that actually scale
Tax work is one lane and a very important one at that!

But the rest of the year?

That’s where things like accrual accounting, clean closes, and understanding your numbers really matter.
There’s also a mix of roles behind the scenes:
• Bookkeepers — handle the day-to-day records
• EAs — focus on tax and IRS matters
• CPAs — can operate across accounting, audit, and advisory
The takeaway:
CPA is a credential — not a one-size-fits-all role.
