🚩 IRS notices don’t take a summer vacation.

While you’re planning beach trips, the IRS is still:
• Sending CP14 balance due notices
• Adding penalties and interest
• Moving accounts further into collections
• Preparing enforcement when balances go unresolved

The biggest mistake I see?

People wait until they receive the final notice before asking for help.

By then, the options are often more limited, the balance has grown, and the stress is much higher than it needed to be.

This week I am working on tax resolution cases involving levies and a license suspension.

These situations did not begin with the levy or the suspension. They began earlier, when a balance, notice, or unresolved filing issue was still easier to address.

Not every notice means the worst is about to happen. But every notice deserves to be opened, reviewed, and understood.

Look at the agency, tax year, notice number, deadline, and the action being requested. Then decide what help you need.

Today is June 15, and this is your reminder that estimated tax payments may be due today.

If you are self-employed, have business income, rental income, investment income, or income where taxes are not being withheld, this deadline may apply to you.

And if you are a corporation required to make estimated tax payments, this may apply to you too.

Here is the bigger reminder: if you are scrambling today because you are not sure what to pay, that is a sign you need a mid-year tax check-in.

You should not be guessing your tax situation halfway through the year.

The money sitting in your account may not all be yours.

If you’re self-employed, a business owner, or you have income that does not have enough taxes withheld, the IRS may expect you to make estimated tax payments during the year.

And when those payments are missed or paid late, the IRS can add an estimated tax penalty.

The penalty is based on:

→ how much you underpaid
→ how long it was underpaid
→ the IRS quarterly underpayment interest rate

Your next estimated tax payment is due June 15.

Don’t wait until tax season to find out you should have been paying throughout the year.

Getting an IRS notice can feel scary but not all letters are.

Some are simple reminders.
Others are time-sensitive and require immediate action.
