Your 1099-K shows gross sales. What you actually made is a smaller number, and you have to be able to show it.
Shipping costs, platform fees, refunds, sales tax you collected, and what you paid for the inventory all come off that figure. The problem is the platform reports one number and your bank shows another, so the two never line up on their own. That gap is where online sellers either overpay or file something they cannot back up.
The fix is tracking what comes in and what goes out as it happens, instead of rebuilding twelve months of it in March.
If you sell on eBay or Shopify and your records live in screenshots and payout emails, that is the cleanup we do. Send us a message and we will tell you what it takes to get your numbers straight.
