I thought it’d be fun to share a little bit about me—not bookkeeping, not business tips (there will be plenty of that), just me as a person.

A few random facts:

• I’m naturally pretty social and love getting to know people and hearing their stories.

• I absolutely hate driving. Passenger princess is a title I’ve fully embraced.

• I grew up on Kauaʻi and am a UH Hilo alumni

• I’m a homebody through and through. Unless you tempt me with shopping or the beach

One of my favorite parts of owning a bookkeeping business in a small community is getting to work with people I genuinely care about. When you support my business, you’re not just hiring a bookkeeper—you’re partnering with someone who wants to see your business succeed and our community thrive.

Summer is great for vacations. It’s not always great for profit margins.

If you’re not reviewing your numbers regularly, summer can quietly create financial problems that don’t show up until months later.

Let’s break it down:

Revenue slows, but expenses don’t.
Client inquiries slow down, purchasing decisions get delayed, and invoices often take longer to get paid. Meanwhile, rent, payroll, software subscriptions, and insurance keep rolling in like clockwork.

Summer spending adds up.
Travel, conferences, team events, and other seasonal expenses can quickly eat into your profits if they’re not being monitored.

Productivity dips can affect cash flow.
Vacation schedules often lead to delayed invoicing, missed follow-ups, and slower project completion. The result? Money takes longer to reach your bank account.

Financial reports get ignored.
Many business owners aren’t checking their numbers as closely during the summer months. That’s when creeping expenses and shrinking profit margins can go unnoticed.
