Here’s what typically happens:
• You receive a notice explaining what’s being reviewed.
• The IRS requests specific records or documents.
• You respond by the deadline with supporting information.
• The issue is resolved, adjusted, or clarified.

The biggest mistake people make?
Ignoring the notice.

Documentation matters. Timing matters. And the sooner you respond, the more options you usually have.

🔔Some taxpayers are receiving notices asking them to create or access an IRS online account before refunds can be processed.

This may happen if:
-direct deposit failed
-identity needs to be verified
-refund information couldn’t be confirmed

If you receive one:
-Log into or create your IRS online account
-Verify your identity
-Confirm or update banking information for direct deposit

Ignoring the letter could delay your refund or result in a paper check instead.

And as always, double check everything through the official IRS website. Scam letters are everywhere.
