It's Tax Time and that comes with scams, ploys, tricks, etc.

Consider hiring a real tax preparer, accountant, or CPA during this season of the year.

I've received questions about the latest scam regarding Form 8944. This a preparer only form that is used to request a waiver to file a tax return via paper form instead of submitting it electronically. It is NOT used to claim refunds.

This is a scam.

IR-2023-61, March 28, 2023 — The IRS today continued the Dirty Dozen series with a warning on day seven about trusting tax advice on social media that can lure otherwise honest taxpayers and tax professionals into compromising tax situations.
