What a great day in Springfield, IL.
I had the opportunity to teach a full day of Justice In Your Wallet, our state-certified financial wellness course, in partnership with LETAC MTU 10. The room was filled with officers who genuinely wanted to be there, asked thoughtful questions, and were committed to improving their financial futures.
One of the most interesting moments came from a live poll during class. When asked which debt feels the most emotionally exhausting, 50% of attendees selected mortgage or rent payments, followed by credit cards and student loans. It was a great reminder that financial stress isn’t always about the biggest balance—it’s often about the payment that follows you every month.
A special thank you to Chatham IL Police Department for supporting this training opportunity. Their Chief specifically requested this course and encouraged a strong group of officers to attend. That’s leadership that invests in people, not just positions.
And because it wouldn’t be law enforcement training without it, I found one of the funniest bathroom signs I’ve seen in a while. The humor, sarcasm, and personality that exist throughout this profession are part of what makes these events so enjoyable.
Appreciate MTU 10 and everyone who spent the day learning, laughing, sharing experiences, and taking steps toward stronger financial wellness.
