This is an email Matt received. This is exactly what scammers are sending out right now.

Let me be clear

The IRS does NOT send emails like this
They do NOT send random documents as attachments
They do NOT ask you to open files like this

Red flags in this email

❌ Generic greeting Hello Mg
❌ Strange attachment HTML file which is a big warning sign
❌ Vague message about important updates
❌ Trying to get you to open a file

If you open that attachment, you are putting your information at risk.

What you should do

✔️ Do NOT open the attachment
✔️ Do NOT click anything
✔️ Delete the email
✔️ If you are unsure, call a trusted tax professional

We are seeing more of these every day. They are counting on you to react without thinking.

If you ever get something like this and are not sure, send it to me. I will look at it before it becomes a problem.

🚨 Important USPS Change – This Could Make You Late 🚨

April 15 is approaching fast. If you’re mailing your tax return or tax payment please be aware.

👉 Your mail is NOT considered “on time” based on when you drop it off anymore.
👉 It’s based on when USPS processes and postmarks it

That means:
📬 Drop it off on the deadline…
⏱️ It gets processed the next day…
❌ You could be considered late

How to protect yourself:

✔️ Take it to the counter and ask for a hand postmark
✔️ Send it Certified Mail or get a Certificate of Mailing
✔️ Or better yet — file electronically

Don’t risk penalties over something like this. Mail it early or get proof.
