đ IRS Announces MidâYear Mileage Rate Increase â Effective July 1, 2026
Due to rising fuel costs, the IRS has revised the 2026 standard mileage rates for travel occurring on or after July 1, 2026.
Mileage from January 1âJune 30, 2026 will continue to use the previously released rates.
⨠New Rates Effective July 1, 2026
Business Mileage: 76¢ per mile
(up from 72.5¢ for JanâJune; depreciation portion remains 35¢ for the full year)
Medical & Moving Mileage: 23.5¢ per mile
(up from 20.5¢ for JanâJune)
Charitable Mileage: 14¢ per mile
(unchanged â set by Congress)
đ Important Reminder for 2026 Filers & Employers
Anyone using the standard mileage rates must track two separate mileage totals this year:
JanuaryâJune and JulyâDecember.
Some employers may have already reimbursed July mileage using the lower JanuaryâJune rate. While not required under federal law, they may choose to reimburse employees for the difference to keep reimbursements fair and accurate.
