Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Community Care is Mental Health Care event hosted by Gilkesson Mortuary and Cremation Life Center and Presented by Bianca Brown where she shared some very informative and helpful tips that our community can use for identifying and managing stress, grief, and our emotional wellness for both the Youth and Adults.
Grief is how your mind, body, and emotions respond to the pain of loss. You can experience loss in various ways, not just by the death of a loved one, but also by the loss of a job, relationship, or loss of an opportunity of something you aspired to do.
These are topics that many people shy away from and it's so important for people, especially in the black and brown community, to know that it's okay to talk about these things without judgement. I found this event to be very helpful and hope that more people of all backgrounds and ages step out of their comfort zone and connect with people who are willing to support you through the process.
