The IRS may owe you money from COVID-era tax penalties... and many people don’t even realize it!

During and after the pandemic, the IRS issued penalties for things like:

👉 late filing
👉 late payment
👉 missed notices

In some cases, the IRS has been automatically providing relief or refunds tied to those penalties.

So what does that mean for you?

If you received IRS penalties during the COVID years, it may be worth checking:
✔ Whether you already received relief automatically
✔ Whether you qualify for penalty relief
✔ Whether you have unresolved notices or balances tied to that period

A lot of people assume once they pay a penalty, that’s the end of it — but that’s not always true.

The bigger takeaway:
Don’t ignore old IRS notices or assume there are no options available.

Tax season is over… but a few things are already changing for next year.

Here’s what to keep on your radar:

💳 1099-K reporting is expanding
More income from platforms like Venmo, PayPal, and Stripe may be reported — even for smaller amounts.

📉 Some tax breaks are decreasing
Certain deductions (like bonus depreciation) aren’t as generous as they were in past years.

⚠️ Tax rules are getting stricter
Not new rules, just more visibility, better systems, and less room for guesswork.

What does this all mean?

👉 Staying organized throughout the year matters more than ever.

Nothing to panic about, just something to stay ahead of.

That’s how you make next tax season a lot smoother.

If you’re using Cash App (or Venmo, PayPal, etc.) for business, there’s a good chance more of that income is being reported than before.

And here’s the part a lot of people miss:

👉 Even if you don’t receive a tax form, that income is still taxable.

With reporting rules expanding, there’s less room for “I didn’t know” or “it wasn’t tracked.”

What to do now: 💰 Track all of your income! The easiest way to do this is to have a business bank account for all related business income and expenses.

It’ll save you a lot of confusion (and stress) next tax season.
