The most important advise that I can give anyone trying to file their taxes right now is to 🛑 STOP! Wait for all of your documents to come in before you file. If you received any FREE money this year, inquire from the giving agency whether or not, you should be waiting for a 1099. Contact your past employers if you don’t receive your w2 by the first week in February. They have a deadline to send to you by Jan 31st. (Allow 1-2 weeks for mail) if you worked CASH and Cary jobs such as Lyft, DoorDash or Instacart or the like, download your 1099 from the platform. (Gather your expenses) this is not a race! Accuracy is key to properly filed tax return. It ensures the IRS won’t come knocking to your door with questions!
