I recently participated in a speed networking event with family law judges. From a CDFA viewpoint, I was curious what issue brings couples back to court over and over again?

Their answer was consistent:
The house.

If your name is still on the mortgage… it’s still your problem.

I don’t care what your divorce decree says. The lender didn’t sign it.

If your ex misses a payment:
→ Your credit takes the hit
→ Your ability to buy again is affected
→ Your “fresh start” isn’t so fresh

In divorce, what’s written legally and what’s enforced financially are two very different things.

Before becoming a CDFA, I had 30 year career in credit and mortgage lending and I’ve seen how this plays out over and over again.

Know the difference before you sign.

Divorce doesn’t ruin people.
The way they handle it does.

I didn’t go through a peaceful “uncoupling.”
I went through a financial and emotional unraveling that forced me to rebuild from scratch.

And what I learned?
Being “reasonable” in divorce can cost you everything.

Now I help others do it smarter.

In my latest piece for Geezer Magazine, I break down what actually matters,
not the noise, not the revenge… the strategy.

Because you can win every argument
and still lose your financial future.

Read it before you make a decision you can’t undo.

Grateful to .lebleu and the team at for the opportunity and the conversation.

We romanticize how some relationships begin but we don’t talk enough about the cost.

Infidelity doesn’t just end marriages. It impacts children, finances, emotional stability, and the long-term ability to co-parent well.

In my latest blog, I explore the real ripple effects of betrayal in divorce — and what responsible adults can do next.

Read this article from The Cut and found it a good read, here’s my honest opinion:

Cheating isn’t a movie montage with a romantic soundtrack and a sunset ending.

Cheating leaves a wake. A spouse blindsided. Children navigating emotional landmines. Families divided. Friendships fractured. Careers impacted. Homes destabilized.

While two people may walk off believing they’ve found their “true love,” others are left holding the emotional and financial fallout — trying to preserve stability for children who didn’t choose any of it.

When betrayal includes a close friend, emotional manipulation, gaslighting, stalking, or coordinated cruelty, the damage deepens. It’s no longer about two people “finding each other.” It becomes about character.

Real love doesn’t require deception.
It doesn’t require psychological warfare.
And it doesn’t leave children collateral damage.

You can romanticize the ending.
But you can’t erase the cost.

And people who justify cruelty rarely transform into compassionate partners simply because they changed addresses.

That “one slice” decision?
It affects your next 20 years.

As a divorce financial analyst advocating on your behalf, I help you see:
– what’s really marital
– what’s really separate
– what looks equal but isn’t
– and what will cost you later

Because spreadsheets matter more than feelings in a courtroom.

February isn’t just about roses and chocolates.
It’s also one of the busiest months for divorce filings—often called the Valentine’s Effect.

After the holidays and Valentine’s Day, many people come to a hard truth:
love can’t fix unresolved conflict, financial stress, or emotional distance.

Why February hits differently:
• Post-holiday clarity
• Valentine’s pressure
• Financial stress
• A desire for a fresh start

If this season feels heavy for you, you’re not failing—you’re becoming honest.

🤍 Clarity is the first step forward.
