The ultimate success of a business often comes back to decisions made at its inception. If you’re planning to start a business, one key decision is choosing its structure, commonly sole proprietorship, C corporation, S corporation, partnership or limited liability company. In addition to owner liability variations, all have different tax requirements that can affect everything from hiring to cash flow to owner income. Another critical decision is choosing a tax year — either a calendar year or a fiscal year (12 consecutive months ending on the last day of any month except December). Call us at (623) 566-9821. We can help you make the best decisions for your current situation and your business’s future.

You’ll probably owe tax on your retirement income — how much depends on factors such as the types of retirement accounts you own and your other income sources. In general, retirees should withdraw funds from any taxable accounts first, tax-deferred accounts second and tax-free accounts last. But different withdrawal strategies may benefit you. The important thing is to start planning before you retire. Call us at (623) 566-9821 for help.

Quick question for every business owner and entrepreneur reading this:

Do you review your financial statements regularly — or only when your accountant asks?

If the answer is "only when asked" — you're not alone. But here's what that habit is costing you: the ability to catch problems before they compound, spot opportunities before they close, and make decisions based on what's actually happening in your business instead of what you think is happening.

A monthly or quarterly review of your P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow report isn't just good housekeeping. It's how you lead your business with clarity instead of guesswork.

Your P&L tells you if you're actually profitable — or just busy.

Your balance sheet tells you if your business is financially strong right now.

Your cash flow report tells you if profit is turning into real money — or disappearing somewhere in between.

These three documents together give you the clearest picture of where your business stands and where it's headed. But only if you're reading them.

Profound Financial, PLLC provides financial statement preparation and review as part of a complete accounting relationship — so you always know your numbers and what they mean.

Know your numbers. Lead your business.

Your business can show a profit on paper and still face cash shortages because profit and cash flow measure different things. Profit reflects revenue minus expenses, while cash flow tracks the movement of cash in and out of your business. Cash shortfalls are especially common for growing businesses. That’s because you typically must pay suppliers, vendors and lenders upfront, and then wait for customers to pay you. Understanding the difference between profit and cash flow — and how to account for each — can help you make smarter financial decisions. Contact us at (623) 566-9821 to learn strategies for improving cash flow management.

Business owners and entrepreneurs have access to retirement options that can work harder than most people realize.

The right retirement plan — set up correctly and at the right time — can do two things at once: build long-term wealth and reduce what you owe this tax year.

That's not a workaround. That's how the tax code is designed to work.

Each plan works differently depending on your business structure — whether you're a solo owner or have employees. Contribution limits, deadlines, and eligibility rules vary, and the right choice depends on your income level, your business structure, and your goals.

What they all have in common: the decision to act needs to happen before year-end. And Q3 is the right time to figure out which one fits.

Profound Financial, PLLC helps business owners and entrepreneurs use retirement planning as part of a complete tax strategy — not as an afterthought, but as one of the most powerful tools available to them.

Smart planning today. Stronger future tomorrow.

Owning assets jointly with your adult child can invite unwelcome tax consequences that may outweigh potential benefits. For example, owning an asset together as “joint tenants with right of survivorship” can open up transfer tax exposure. If you add your child to the title of property you already own, it may be considered a taxable gift of half the property’s value. And when you die, half of the property’s value will be included in your taxable estate. A properly designed trust can be a more tax-efficient option. Call us at (623) 566-9821 for details.
