One last tax post because apparently I went on a whole tax rampage tonight and didn’t schedule NONE of it. I just posted it all. Lol.

But I’m not gonna keep telling y’all to stop filing exempt. Go look at that check stub and fix that W-4 NOW. If you’ve been filing exempt or not having enough federal tax withheld, changing it now could at least help you for the rest of the year.

Don’t wait until tax season and look at me crazy.

There is no IRS program officially called the “IRS Forgiveness Program.” It’s called an Offer in Compromise, and not everybody qualifies.

You can research this yourself directly through the IRS. Stop letting these third-party companies sell you a dream and hustle you out of thousands of dollars promising to “wipe away” your tax debt.

HEYYYY YOU GUYSSSS!

If you get paid to care for someone who lives in the same home as you, that W-2 may not be fully taxable!

Certain Medicaid waiver “difficulty of care” payments may be excluded from federal taxable income. And here’s the kicker: they may still count as earned income for EITC and ACTC.

Tax preparers, know what you’re looking at before you just plug that W-2 in and keep moving.

If you don’t know your mentor’s first and last name, have a real phone number for them, or know where their business is located, your scammer senses should be tingling like Spidey senses. Something ain’t right.

If you’re working under somebody in the tax business and they don’t have you sign a contract clearly explaining the terms, throw them away. Know what you’re agreeing to before tax season starts.

If your tax mentor doesn’t have a CAF number, or worse, doesn’t even know what a CAF number is, throw the whole mentor away.

One reason to get your own EFIN is ownership. You can e-file under your own business, purchase your own software, enroll with a bank product provider, and offer clients the option to have your preparation fees deducted from their refund. Stop building somebody else’s tax business when you’re ready to build your own.
