The IRS has made a rare mid-year update to the standard mileage rate due to rising fuel costs. For the second half of 2026, the business rate is now 76 cents per mile, increased from 72.5 cents. The medical rate is now 23.5 cents per mile, increased from 20.5 cents. Mileage reporting will need to be distinguished between miles driven from January 1st to June 30th and from July 1st to December 31st for tax filing purposes. Be sure to have your records ready for this unique change!
