CAC of Pike County Free Tax & Financial Literacy Programs Free income tax preparation and financial literacy education. Available to low and moderate income P Courses are available for youth and adults.

The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) free income tax return preparation programs at Community Action of Pike County provide free tax return preparation to low- and moderate-income Pike County residents. Appointments are available by calling (740) 289-2371 after January 1. Appointments are available at the main agency in Piketon and at the Senior Center in Waverly.

In addition, we also offer financial literacy education workshops. Workshop topics include: Coupon Basics, Banking Basics, Building and Keeping Good Credit and Budgeting Your Money Wisely, just to name a few.

Small Business Classes Set to Return September 22

Ready to Start Your Own Business?

If you've been thinking about launching a business, now is the perfect time to take the next step. The Workforce & Business Development Program at the Community Action Committee of Pike County, in partnership with the OSU Small Business Development Center, is offering its Small Business Class beginning September 22.

This hands-on course is designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs build a strong foundation by covering topics such as business planning, marketing, financial projections, funding opportunities, and more. Whether you're refining an idea or preparing to launch, this class will provide valuable tools and guidance to help you move forward.

Space is limited, and registration is required. A $15 materials fee applies.

Registration Deadline: September 18

Eligible participants may receive financial support throughout the program, including stipends for attending classes, and milestone-based incentives such as, assistance with business planning, start-up expenses, or certain lending-related costs.

The Free Tax Preparation and Financial Literacy Program of the Workforce & Business Development Program at the Community Action Committee of Pike County is offering an β€œeBay Reselling for Beginners Workshop” on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pike County OhioMeansJobs Career Center, located at 941 Market Street in Piketon.
Whether you're looking to earn extra income, start a side business, or simply learn how to sell items you no longer need, this hands-on workshop will teach participants the fundamentals of successful eBay reselling. Attendees will learn how to create an eBay seller account, find profitable items to sell, write listings that attract buyers, price items for profit, ship orders with confidence, and avoid common scams that affect online sellers.
The workshop is offered free of charge, and no prior eBay experience is necessary. Participants will receive practical tips, helpful resources, and real-world examples to help them begin their own reselling journey with confidence. Light refreshments will be provided.

Reliable transportation can make all the difference when it comes to getting to work, school, or training. That's why the Workforce & Business Development Program at the Community Action Committee of Pike County is continuing to accept applications for our TANF-funded Car Repair Program.

If you are a Pike County resident who meets the program requirements, you may qualify for assistance with essential vehicle repairs that help keep you safely on the road.

To be eligible, you must:
βœ… Be a Pike County resident
βœ… Be currently employed, a current student, or have received an offer of employment
βœ… Meet income guidelines (at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines)
βœ… Have a minor child living in your household
βœ… Complete an eligibility packet and provide the required documentation
