It's that time once again...Tax Time!!!! E-filing for most tax forms opens Monday, January 29th. The IRS won't have some tax forms finalized until after the 29th, therefore, tax returns containing those forms can't be e-filed until they are finalized.

For those that filed an extension for their 2016 tax return, your tax deadline is coming due very soon. October 16, 2017 is the deadline for filing those returns...unless you fall under the tax relief requirements for those affected by Hurricane Harvey on 08/23/17.

For those Texas residents that were victims of Hurricane Harvey on 08/23/2017, you may qualify for tax relief that will extend the filing deadline for your tax return to January 31, 2018. These filers must have a valid extension on file and must reside in certain areas as stated in the IRS notice listed here. Take a look to see if the pertains to you.

TX-2017-09, Aug. 29, 2017 — Victims of Hurricane Harvey that took place beginning on Aug. 23, 2017 in parts of Texas may qualify for tax relief from the Internal Revenue Service.
